Where is EcoSmart Shades located?
You’ll find us in the beautiful (yet often chilly) state of Vermont.
Vermont really is gorgeous, but it can sometimes get brutally cold. What better place to manufacture insulating window coverings? From the beginning, we made it our mission to produce stylish, super-energy-efficient, double-cell shades that would insulate our fellow Vermonters’ homes against both the frigid Winters and the heights of Summer heat. Our neighbors sure appreciated it (especially when they got their heating and cooling bills!) and it wasn’t long before we began sharing our amazing products with the entire country – and the world.

How long has EcoSmart Shades been in business?
We’ve been handcrafting our high-end cellular and roller shades for over 35 years.
Talk about perfecting our craft. We were among the very first window shade manufacturers of cellular honeycomb shades, and we’ve been continually improving our methods and our materials ever since. Here in Vermont, we’ve long been a fixture as the place to go for custom window décor, and we expanded into online/worldwide sales more than 20 years ago. Building and delivering extremely attractive, phenomenally durable, incredibly functional insulated shades and roller shades is all we do, and we’ve been doing it very well for a very long time!

Why haven’t I heard of EcoSmart Shades?
Well, it’s possible you have heard of us!
Like anything great, we’ve evolved over time. EcoSmart Shades is the brand name of our products and EcoSmartShades.com is our new website, but you might know us by another name. No worries… we’re still the same friendly Vermont company building the same amazing products!

Gordon’s Window Décor: That’s us! Gordon’s Window Décor is our company, and it was founded by Gordon Clements in Vermont over 35 years ago. Gordon eventually turned the business over to his brilliant daughter, Kelly, making us a woman-owned, second-generation family business. We provide full-service consultation, design, shade manufacturing, installation, and the full gamut of window covering solutions here in our beautiful home state. Not to brag, but we’re a local institution, known by all for the outstanding quality of our products, legendary customer service, community involvement, and, well, a healthy dose of silliness (see our social media accounts).
SymphonyShades.com: With the ginormous success of our products locally, it quickly became obvious that we should offer our shades to everyone. After all, we knew we could make it super-simple for the average homeowner to measure their windows and install their own shades. And we knew we could, as the window shade manufacturer, provide the unmatched expertise and incredible customer service we’re known for, no matter where our customers reside. At the time, we manufactured our cellular shades under the brand name “Symphony Shades”. Thus, SymphonyShades.com was born!
CellularWindowShades.com: But wait! If everyone deserves to have our custom-made, insulating beauties in their windows, what about those who have never heard of the Symphony Shades brand? How would they find us in the cold vastness of the interwebs? Well, they’ll probably search for ‘cellular window shades’, right? Yup, that was the thinking that lead to CellularWindowShades.com. Nothing complicated here… just another way to help people find our awesome products.
EcoSmartShades.com: We decided some time ago that our shades needed a name change – to better reflect the value that we offer. Yes, our shades are beautiful and incredibly functional, but what our cellular shades do better than virtually any window covering is insulate your home. When you sell amazing shades that pay for themselves through energy savings, the name should indicate that, don’t you think?
In addition, we’ve added new products (hello, roller shades!) and enhanced our offerings over the years, resulting in a product line that’s as unique as we are. The Symphony name – which was shared with the company that supplied our cellular components – no longer worked for all that we offer. We needed a name that fits as well as our shades do! So now all of our shades are under our own EcoSmart Shades brand name and we offer these directly to you through EcoSmartShades.com. When you purchase an EcoSmart Shade, you know exactly what it is and where it came from – because we are the only manufacturers of EcoSmart Cellular Shades and EcoSmart Roller Shades in the world!
