The bonded polyester fabric does not have flame retardants, which means no off gassing making them safe in sensitive areas such as schools and hospitals.
They are so durable and will last for years (DECADES!), a quality handmade product that won’t degrade over time, keeping them out of the landfill! Another awesome fact about our shading! If a component on your shade should fail, we can repair it, so you get to enjoy it even longer! This is SO important to us, as we know what an investment in these shades are!
What is Green Guard Gold Certification?
“The UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification Standard includes health-based criteria for additional chemicals and also requires lower total VOC emissions levels to ensure that products are acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. In addition to limiting emissions of more than 360 VOCs and total chemical emissions, UL GREENGUARD Gold Certified products must also comply with requirements of the state of California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers, also known as California Section 01350..” – courtesy of UL Solutions
We have two cell sizes to choose from –
- single cell
- double cell
The single cell shade traps less dead air, so they are slightly less insulating than the double cell fabric that is more insulating, but both still do a great job and add additional R-Value right at your window which is where most heat loss occurs! You can read more about R-Value here.
For a fully enclosed insulating system, and often used in particularly drafty situations, or just to increase energy efficiency, pair our double cell fabric with the optional Energy-Saving Sidetracks to your shade configuration! They also help to block additional light along the sides of your shades!
While they are naturally dust resistant, if you need to clean them, they are easy to clean! A duster or vacuum will clean them right up! Our light filtering fabric can be gently cleaned with water and a mild detergent. Keeping them looking new for many years.

Our fabrics are GreenGuard Gold certified
This is the most stringent certification for vapor emissions. Also, during the early stages of the pandemic, we made masks out of our fabrics. Before giving these masks away to the public, we had our fabrics tested by the University of Vermont Medical Center and they passed the safety tests with flying colors. Again, they were even deemed safe for children to wear. We take great pride in offering safe, eco-friendly products!
