They look harmless…but here’s the truth.

Aluminum Blinds are not your window’s friend.

Metal blinds are noisy! They live to clang in the lightest breeze and I swear if you even look at them…they rattle, loudly.

They are also AVID dust collectors

Metal blinds are very susceptible to damage. Aluminum is pliable…and easily bends, and dents.

Annnd when you have furry roommates…well…they’re fair game to destruction!

Not only that, they are also VERY easily damaged by extreme temperatures. When exposed to extreme heat/direct sun for extended time periods (uhhmm hello!…they live in your windows!), metal window blinds like to warp and distort. This makes them very challenging to use. Forget about opening and closing them with ease. You’re gonna be stuck with a loud clanging mess!

Now here’s the biggest con…they suck.

They suck energy.
They suck money out of your wallet.
And contribute to making your home uncomfortable.

Metal window blinds do not have insulating properties at ALL.

In fact, this is what those pesky metal blinds do….they pull that heat RIGHT into your home. EEEEKKK!

Our EcoSmart Cellular Shades have a payback period of roughly 5 yrs –they pay YOU BACK! <–read that again, and out loud!

Ok, we’re talking averages here, it costs about $1,300 to heat an American home each year. Personally, my monthly propane bill was $220….add that up! $2640 a YEAR!! Whhhhhhhhhhaaaa? Insanity.

Believe it or not, when the sun sizzles down on your untreated windows, it essentially acts as an oven! Glass on its own has been known as a fairly good conductor of heat and a bad insulator in general. Now add a metal “grill” on your window…this compounds the heat gain.

This warmth might be welcomed in the Winter for rooms facing the sun, however, in the Summer it can make a home absolutely unbearable temperature wise and incredibly inefficient.

When solar heat passes through a glass window it is known as the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient. When you have a lower Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, this means your home is more protected against the heat, which reduces the work load on your home’s air conditioning unit, and can save you money on cooling costs and keep you comfortable!

Smart window treatments are the easiest way to improve your home against solar heat gain. Also, the way your windows are fabricated, can have a large impact. Triple-Glazed, Double-Glazed, Low-solar-gain Low-E Glass windows have been specifically designed to reduce the SHGC and will act as a welcomed aid in our quest for energy efficiency!

Windows Are a Huge Source of Heat/Cold Loss
That’s right, up to 30% of your heating and cooling energy could be flying right out your windows.
