One of the best things about investing in high-quality window treatments is that they’re built to last. At EcoSmart Shades, our shades are designed for years of reliable use without the need for repairs. Still, life happens— and every now and then, you might run into a minor issue. The good news? Most fixes are simple, and our team is here to help.

Warranty Coverage You Can Count On

Before you reach for your toolbox, check your warranty details. We’re proud to offer both a Residential Limited Lifetime Warranty and Measuring SafeGuard Program for our shades. While our warranty doesn’t cover every situation, it does cover most parts… and in the first year, we’ll even cover shipping!

Common Window Shade Issues & Fixes

While every shade style is designed with durability in mind, the type of repair you might need often depends on the specific product and how it’s used day-to-day. Some issues pop up during installation, while others appear after months of regular use. Below are the most common situations our customers run into— and how to address them quickly so your shades keep performing at their best.

1. Measuring Mistakes

Sometimes shades arrive and don’t quite fit the way you expected. Don’t panic, that’s why our Measuring SafeGuard Program exists! If your measurements were a little off (within reason), you can send them back and we’ll adjust or fix them for you.

2. Bracket Placement for Motorized Shades

Motorized shades require careful installation. A common issue occurs when brackets are placed directly on the motor. Be sure to avoid this, as it can interfere with function and longevity. This information is also stated in your motorized shade’s instruction manual.

3. Tensioner Troubles

Corded shades come with a tensioner for child safety. Getting it into the right spot makes sure that your shades raise and lower smoothly. If it feels off, a small adjustment often solves the problem.

4. Cellular Fabric “Shrinkage”

Don’t worry if your cellular shade fabric looks a little short when it first arrives– there’s nothing wrong with it! The honeycomb fabric ships condensed and needs to be gently massaged or extended into its full length.

Here’s how to fix it:

  • Gently pull the shade away from the window sill.
  • With your hands, slowly glide up and down the folds of the fabric, encouraging it to extend.
  • In most cases, it’ll stretch out to its full length after a few minutes.

5. Cordless Shades Not Staying Down

Cordless designs use internal magnets to hold shades in place. If your shades seem to spring back up, check that the magnets are aligned correctly.

Most window shade issues are easy to solve, but if you’re stuck, we’re only a phone call away. Our team of Shade Gurus can walk you through a quick fix or arrange a repair under warranty.
