Top-down/bottom-up shades give you more control over privacy and daylight than a traditional bottom-up shade. Instead of simply deciding how much of the window to uncover, you can choose which part of the window remains open.

Why Choose Continuous Cord Loop Operation?

Continuous cord loop shades use an internal clutch-and-pulley system to move the shade rather than requiring you to raise and lower each rail directly by hand.

This top-down/bottom-up configuration has a continuous loop on each side of the shade. One controls the bottom rail and the other controls the top, giving you precise control over both portions of the window.

The system is also well suited to larger shades. This configuration can accommodate windows up to 92 inches wide and 96 inches high.

How Much Privacy Do Light-Filtering Cellular Shades Provide?

Light-filtering cellular fabric is translucent rather than transparent. It prevents a clear view through the shade while allowing a soft glow of daylight into the room.

In most situations, this provides excellent privacy. However, a person or object positioned directly between a strong interior light source and the shade may create a visible silhouette from outside, particularly with lighter fabric colors.

Single-Cell or Cell-in-Cell Fabric?

Both options have modern 3/4-inch pleats and use honeycomb-shaped air pockets to improve insulation at the window.

Single-cell fabric contains one row of honeycomb air pockets. It is lighter in weight, somewhat less expensive, and still provides excellent insulation.

Cell-in-cell fabric contains a smaller cell inside the larger honeycomb cell. The additional trapped air provides somewhat greater insulating performance.

Both light-filtering options have a white exterior-facing surface to help reflect heat and provide a consistent appearance from outside your home.
